Asking for Confirmation

The other day I was just relaxing, sitting with my eyes closed, when the name “Fiona” came to me. I wondered why I’d think of that name out of the blue, as I don’t know anyone with that name (except for the Host of the Thistle and Shamrock radio show on NPR, Fiona Ritchie, but not personally of course.)

Thinking that it might have some more significance than just a supposed random thought, I said to myself, “If this name/person Fiona is something relevant to me, like, say, a spirit guide or helper, let me know by showing me the name in the world somehow.” (As opposed to just hearing it in my mind.) Then I forgot about it completely and went about my day.

At the very end of the day, John was playing a game online where you can raise a dragon, hoard jewels, challenge other dragons and help friends during battles. He said, “Oh, it looks like your dragon is under attack – I’ll go help you.”

Just as a matter of conversation I replied, “Oh? Who’s the dragon?” He replied, “It’s named Fiona.” Suddenly the earlier communication came back to me and I had to laugh, and then tell him the entire story.

So next time you want some ‘external’ verification, just ask for it and expect it – it may come in really normal ways or the way the confirmation shows up might completely surprise you, more the fun!

A Personal Symbol For Death

I grew up going to Catholic mass every Sunday. I mostly just went through the motions and it never really ‘stuck’, but apparently some of the symbols have stayed with me from those early days. For example, in learning more about the ways my intuition attempts to communicate with my conscious mind I’ve found that I apparently use the symbol of a cross to mean a death. It’s not something I consciously decided on, it just became evident that that’s what the symbol was trying to say. I usually get just a flash of a cross when I’m laying down to go to sleep or just getting up in the morning, only semi-awake. And the cross looks very different, depending on the situation.

The first time it came clear that it was a message I saw multiple crosses on a hillside in a particular pattern, and then discovered that the Shuttle Columbia had blown up. When I saw a photo of the crew online, each person was in the same position that the individual crosses had been. I once saw a plain cross with a bright glow behind it when my favorite great aunt died. I even saw a little cross made of twigs and stuck in the grass and discovered a small lizard had died on our back porch.

A few days ago I saw another cross. It was gold and rather elaborate. I tuned in to see who it might apply to, but everyone in my immediate circle of friends and family seemed fine. So I just set it aside and forgot about it for a few days. Today I learned that my friend’s grandmother had died a few days ago. I’d actually never met her, but I’d heard about her and an elaborate gold cross seemed to fit her quite well. And actually, I’d forgotten about the gold cross until I’d heard from my friend.

I’m curious about what other symbols my inner self is using and how I’ll become more consciously aware of them!

Not Boaring At All

Here’s a little story, just happened today actually, that shows how helpful (and important) it can be to make sure we are listening to our inner guidance and acting on those impulses/intuitions!

I was walking out to run the well pump, which is located around a hill from our house. It had rained recently, and when I got to the path that went through a small gully the dirt still looked quite muddy and there were fresh cow plops on the path that I also didn’t want to step in or slide on. I looked at the path a moment more and then decided that the smart thing to do would be to walk AROUND the gully. It was a little bit longer walk, but on grassy and level ground.

When I got to the end of the gully, a few hundred feet away, I heard a great crashing in the trees and undergrowth on the hill. I turned around quickly and a big, black, wild boar was charging out of the bushes, across the road, and down through the gully… right where I might have been had I taken that muddy path. The boar disappeared into the distance and I quickly lost sight of it from my vantage point above the gully.

Now, it would have probably been more scared of me than I was of it, but I had NO interest in that or seeing up close how big its tusks were – LOL!
