Book Perspectives: Phoenix Return & This Strange Quantum World and You

Editors Note:  Recently we have been getting many requests to do book reviews and so decided to give it a whirl.  Since we can’t read and offer our perspectives on EVERY book, we retain the right to pick and choose which selections appear in the journal.  So, if you are an author or publisher and would like us to review a book, please send a description of the publication to us at ccjournal@bigfoot.com and we’ll go from there.  Thanks!

Perspective by John McNally

Phoenix Return is a compilation of automatic writing that combines both historical information about the ancient civilizations of Atlantis and Lemuria, and predictions for devastating earth changes that are supposed to manifest over the next twelve years.

I enjoyed the historical references, the information is concise and actually provides detailed locations of various artifacts and crystals.  I was unable to find out whether or not there has been any attempt to uncover any of these artifacts, although there is a reference in the book to the author having the crystal with the “master files” within it.  There are some references to Atlantean/Lemurian technology that are interesting, and several mathematical formulas, which to my chagrin, I don’t fully understand, however I do appreciate the book’s directness in presenting the material.

On the other hand, I felt the earth changes predictions detracted from the enjoyment of the text. The author has had several “hits” with her predictions, and many “misses.” As is typical with many of these predictions, the more dramatic ones, like the tsunami that would be generated by volcanic activity in Hawaii, destroying California has not happened. The entities had predicted that for July. Of course they include a disclaimer about earth times being difficult to pinpoint, and occasionally tell both the author and the reader to stay positive and everything will be fine, however that seems to conflict directly with the overall tone of the book.

Perhaps it’s just this reviewer’s opinion, but promising everyone that staying focused on love and giving almost stereotypical instructions for living in “harmony” with nature are a bit overshadowed by the declaration that parts of the same comet that destroyed Atlantis are due to hit Earth again in 2001. This comet will wipe out most of the world population, and destroy the infrastructure so that those “chosen” few will be able to create the more harmonious civilization in its place.

If you are interested in the history of Atlantis and Lemuria, then this book is worth reading. If you like predictions of earth changes, then you’ll probably love this book. As both a reality creator, and someone who’s seen too many earth changes predictions fall flat over the years (see this months column) I found the predictions to be a almost stereotypical filtering of the changes that will probably take place on a much more energetic and less physical level.

From the back cover:

“Extracts from the Records of Atlantis at the Close of an Era”

“In the early 20th century, an American psychic called Edgar Cayce gave a series of ‘readings’ concerning the legendary island of Atlantis.  He claimed that the Atlanteans travelled to Egypt, taking with them the Records of their Knowledge.  These were sealed in a secret chamber at Giza, the fabled ‘Hall of Records’, said to lie between the paws of the Sphinx and the River Nile.”

“This book claims to be a telepathic transcription of those Records.  It speaks of hidden artefacts, of esoteric knowledge, of the coming Earth changes and of survival without technology.  More importantly, it outlines the Ancients’ understanding of the Universe and so provides a wiser, more loving guide to living as we enter a period of dramatic global change.”

“Has the lost ‘Hall of Records’ really been found?”

Perspective by Kristen Fox

Although this small book is designated for children, it’s also a great, simple explanation of how quantum physics works and, even better, how these ideas relate to the physical world we take in with our senses.  Intermixed with the creative and simply metaphoric explanations are actual experiments that the reader can perform with everyday objects.  There’s nothing quite like hands-on learning to really bring understanding home to roost.

The author covers: particle/wave theory, matter and energy, the spectrum of visible and nonvisible light, photons and bosons and quarks, Einstein, vibrations, holographic theory, magnetism, and also people and the earth and the universe, all with a very conversational and upbeat tone that will pull you through the book in no time flat.

Although I enjoyed the entire scientifically angled book, the last chapter got me most excited, as the author explains why quantum theory is relevant to the reader.  I’ll snip some quotes together… “You are not separate from the universe.” … “The waves of your thoughts reach out in ways you can imagine and in ways too strange to imagine.  So you must be careful about what you create with your thoughts.”  … “How would you think differently if you really believed that what you think could change the world in some way?”

This book would be a great addition to any conscious creator’s library, and a great gift for anyone, child or adult, who asks ‘too many’ questions.

From the back cover:

“We are, each and every one of us, woven into a great 3-D web of vibrating energies.  We are within it, and it is within us.  The most unusual thing about this web of energy is that it seems to be conscious like we are.  It is able to exchange information within all its parts like we do within our bodies.”

“‘Patricia Topp has done a remarkable job of translating the language of quantum physics into one that a child can understand'”
